Varsity Tennis Season 2019

This year our girls tennis team has done absolutely amazing, proving they are a force to be reckoned with.

The girls established their superiority by making it all the way to C.I.F quarterfinals and winning second in league. The team started off the season very strong at preseason games where they played against against Osos.

Even though the girls did not win, it was an extremely close match, causing the Los Osos team to feel intimidated for the games to come throughout the season.

The girls have worked so hard this season, explaining that all of their success was due to their team dynamic. Lexi Hemphling, a member on the Varsity team, shared, “The team was strong this year because we all had fun with one another and worked together as a team to win.”

The varsity girls captain Marissa Perez, who has been on Varsity Tennis since her freshman year, added, “The team dynamic is the best it has been. We were so focused on winning and all of us were so bummed when we lost in C.I.F. We are all so close that we are one big family.” Perez explained that the whole C.I.F experience has been, “So fun and we did so well. We best out-ranked teams and proved ourselves in each game [sic]. Sadly, we lost the quarterfinals but it was the most fun I have had.”

The girls’ most iconic match of the season was the C.I.F match against Montclair where the team depended on the number one doubles to win.

When the team achieved their momentous win, 10-8, all the girls victoriously ran onto the court and “dogpiled” the winners. The varsity girls tennis team this year has done extremely well because they continue to dedicate themselves and work their hardest.

The girls’ goal for next year is to take first in the league and win quarterfinals.
