Our school’s own National Honors Society (NHS) and Red Cross clubs on campus hold an annual Benefit concert which shows off very talented students of Rancho Cucamonga High School while donating to the S.O.S. Foundation.
Lina Yazouri, President of the Red Cross club on campus states that the main reason for this concert is to “host a variety of performances to help raise money for charitable foundations. We chose to donate all our proceeds to the S.O.S. Foundation, which helps students in need in our local district.”
December 4th was the night of the big event; NHS and Red Cross clubs both made sure the event was planned out so that the night ran smoothly. Various different dress rehearsals occurred – giving the students the perfect amount of confidence to perform their hearts out.
Closer to the concert’s start, families and friends began to gather around preparing to see a very special show. Within the event, Vince’s Spaghetti was brought out to enjoy while waiting for the performance to start. Yazori also stated , “Our performances, ranging from singers/musicians to comedians and poets, were all amazing.” The audience members loved every moment. Each performer was extremely talented; whether it was singing or poetry, their performance as exceptional.
Even though it is a night of performing , the meaning behind it is what makes the event even more special. The main purpose of this event is to donate to the charity groups, Galen Han who is an NHS council member, states that “The main reason we have the Benefit Concert is so that we can raise funds for S.O.S., a club dedicated to helping those in our district.”
Both Red Cross and National Honors Society, in such a positive way, help those in need who are struggling with anything. This concert creates not only a beautiful night with such talented performers, but charitable doings as well.
