Mark your calendars, Cougar! Prom will be held at the Ocean Institute, in Dana Point on Saturday, April 25th! This highly anticipated night is expected to be full of excitement, fun, and anxiety. A bittersweet farewell to high school.
The pressure and anxiety this night fills hundreds of students at Rancho Cucamonga High School. The perfect dress. The perfect fitting suit. The heels, the makeup, hair, and the perfect date.
Senior Gisselle Garcia reflected on her dress shopping experience for her junior prom last year, “I will most likely try on more than 10 dresses before I even have an idea of the right one because I’m really indecisive.” Before heading to stores, browse apps like Instagram or Pinterest searching for any dresses that might catch your eye, this will lessen your anxiety and narrow down your choices.
This indecisiveness is so common amongst high school students choosing their attire for the special night, some students even going as far as traveling multiple cities over to avoid accidentally matching with someone else. The pressure to find the perfect outfit looms over every student attending prom. The perfect dress on prom night is so important for many and for Garcia it’s a deal breaker for her last prom. Be encouraged to look early! Don’t wait until prom season to find your perfect dress, many stores like Windsor or Macy’s sell formal gowns year round, not only prom season.
All this struggle is all worth it in the end, the formal dress code that prom requires is one of the most exciting parts of the night. Senior Alyssa Jaret is best friends with Gisselle, when asked what she looked forward to, she says, “I am most excited for getting ready for the dance and just seeing everyone dressed up because it’s nice to see your classmates in different attire every once in a while.”
With all the stresses that come with prom, more memorable moments come from it after all.
Jaret went on to explain, “I hope to remember my senior prom for years to come because it’s such a classic high school event that students can look forward to attending.”
As this school year comes to a close, we start to realize that soon, it’ll all be over and we won’t have these events to stress about anymore. Even through this, we are all excited and looking toward how exciting and different this prom night will be.
