The start of the decade also begins a chapter for new Rancho Cucamonga High School Advanced Placement Macroeconomics teacher, Ms. Megan Siana.
Coming back from winter break, seniors taking Advanced Placement Macroeconomics were greeted with a new teacher in their classroom! Ms. Siana is currently Rancho Cucamonga High School’s only Advanced Placement Macroeconomics teacher, replacing Mrs. Berwick as she fulfills her new role as Assistant Principal of Activities on our campus.
Students were nervous with the idea of having a new teacher, finding a teacher who is the right fit for Rancho Cucamonga High School’s culture is a challenge for administration whenever hiring a new staff member, thankfully students were relieved when meeting Siana as she fits our campus culture well.
Siana is a Chaffey Joint Union High School District alumna, graduating from Alta Loma High School. Within her time in Alta Loma High , she enjoyed subjects such as English and Ceramics. Upon graduation, Siana attended Westmont College and began student teaching. Siana states, “On the first day of student teaching, I loved it and my very second day was at Rancho and I loved it again”,after that experience she began subbing for classes while getting her teaching credential, knowing that she wanted to be a teacher from that point on.
Excited to be in the educational world, Siana dreamed of all the fun things she would be able to do in her own classroom. Her room decor has a hint of minimalism as well as some colorful monopoly money on her wall to fit the class subject — Economics.
Alongside this, learning alongside her students was what she was really looking forward to. Being in school, Siana always thought that teachers were experts, but she then realized that isn’t always the case.
What really makes a teacher an expert is the relationship and learning an educator has with the classroom. For the future she hopes to become an expert teacher like all the teachers she’s had in the past and with the amount of enthusiasm she shows in class, we are all sure she can achieve that goal in no time.
With all that being said, Ms.Siana has demonstrated a bond teachers can have with students that can definitely impact their lives in such a positive way. On behalf of The Cat’s Eye, we welcome Ms.Siana to our campus!
